One of the goals we had when we started this website was to be able to create a resource that anyone can use to get started with tenkara, or to progress their skills and understandings.
With that being said, we realize that we, as individuals, sometimes receive information better from one source than we do with others. Since one of our objectives is to get people interested and started in tenkara, we want to share some other resources that we recommend, and the first one is the YouTube channel “Tenkara From Japan.”
The majority of videos posted on this channel are instructional videos featuring Dr. Hisao Ishigaki. They’re all relatively short videos, and they cover a range of topics from setting up a tenkara rod, to using different presentations in your fishing. All the videos on this channel are in Japanese, but do have subtitles, as well as a segment at the end that covers the key points talked about in the video. The videos are numbered, but uploaded in a random order - but for the sake of this post, we have put together a playlist in which you can watch the videos in order! Follow the link below to view that playlist…
Outside of the instructional videos, there are a few others that show how to tie a fly, as well as a few fishing videos.
We like this channel because the videos are short, but still hold concise information. It’s easy to watch all the videos on the channel in an afternoon. Along with that, they serve as a great reference point to come back to at times.
If you find these videos helpful, please give the Tenkara From Japan channel a follow and like the videos you enjoyed!
